Guinness, Smithwicks, Heineken, Carlsberg, Bud or Bulmers.

That is a wide choice round here. Most pubs dont have all of them!

As they say choose your poison.

Edit-- But I never get stuck in trafic

I quite enjoyed the bottles of McArdles I had the other week. Was the first time I'd had it to be honest, and it was following quite a few bottles of Stout, so I was appreciating the slightly lighter body (not my own obviously!)

To be honest, I'll drink whatevers available, but it's definitely on a sliding scale. I'll look in the fridge first and see if there's anything remotely intereesting, or something I haven;t tried before (like the Polish Lech I had on the weekend). It doesn't pay to be fussy or a beer snob when you're out in certain parts of town, or indeed most parts of town!

(and I quit whiskey a few years ago...)

I took the train up to the great Satan recently, & I noticed the millennium pub, near Hueston station did Bass on draught I've never had it on draught, completely different to a can . Is this a Dublin thing? All we have down here, in most pubs are the 3 stouts & either Heineken or Fosters There is a real lack of ales in Munster. I think people don't like the taste getting in the way of getting drunk.

Bass isn't that widely available in Dublin and we're just as stuck as you are for decent ale in regular pubs. I'm wary if I see Bass on tap because I can't imagine they move much of it and the odds are you'll get a dodgy pint.

Bass does show up in odd places. One of my really dodgy locals, The Stoneboat on Sundrive Road, has Tennents and Bass on tap. Presumably they're distributed from the north.

O'Neill's of Suffolk Street has just about every macrobrewed draught beer in Ireland, except possibly McArdles. It's a really interesting selection (of mainly dull beers). They also do pint bottles of Guinness at cellar temperature from a drawer under the bar. Lovely.

I tend ot stick with the stouts - Beamish / Murphy's /Guisnness but if in a lager mood and if it si avallable I think Miller on druaght is the best of the regular lagers, though of course not available in all bars. I think it si far better than Heineken or Bud, and have too many bad memories of Harp, Fosters and Carling many years ago. Will not go back there even if I got it for free!!!!!
