I've only had McArdle's from the can and found it terribly watery. Is it better from the bottle? Mulligan's do it on draught. Anyone tried that?

Never tried on draught either, but bottled is quite drinkable, much nicer than Smickwicks in my opinion

grogans/old stand on south william street has the pint bottles of guinness and depending on who's behind the bar they'll ask fridge or shelf, which is nice. have had bottles of macardles in a few places including fitzgeralds in sandycove/glasthule who also have a good selection of ales - spitfire, some of the st peters, bishops finger etc
i could end up on the whiskey if i can't find a decent default beer, trial and error i suppose or else just making sure i only go to pubs with decent beer.

Whiskey's a good fallback for me too but just not too many. Otherwise it really will be a fall back.
