Up until yesterday, I was quite unimpressed by Messrs' beers. I had tasted the best bitter, which was grand enough but not a patch on the bitters available in the UK, the plain porter which wasn't a patch on the porters that the Porterhouse does and their Weiss which tasted quite good but had a horrible sulphuric/eggy smell(maybe I just got a bad pint though, either way the barman wasn't pleased when I pointed it out though).

I was in no hurry to try their Rusty Ale because I'm not crazy on any of the red ales I've tasted. I ordered a pint of it yesterday and thought it was fantastic. Really flavoursome and well balanced. Quite different to the few Irish reds I've tried.

What do yiz reckon?

I've always been fond of their Rusty. As you said, its got a bit more flavour than most reds on the market. I haven't tried their best bitter yet. Is it still on tap?

Yes, still there. Give it a go, it's not bad there's just something in the finish I don't really enjoy.

Have you had their Haus lager? I haven't gone for it, I can rarely motivate myself to try new lagers. I think there are too many which taste too similiar to each other.

I don't think so. There was no hand pump anyway.

Which reminds me, there doesn't appear to be too many cask ales in Ireland these days. Porterhouse's TSB. Any others?

Real Biddy, in Biddy Early's, Near Ennis and The Franciscan Well have been known to do a cask, once in a while.

Other than that, you have to go North.
