Did I not see ICB and Beoir mentioned in the section on Metalman? Albeit, very briefly. More would have been good alright!

We get a four page article in the Irish Times magazine showing Irish Craft Beer in a positive light and all you can do is find fault. I despair of people sometimes. This is great exposure for our native microbreweries, even if the writing style is not to your taste and the page layout is sooo two minutes ago.

As it happens I consulted with John Wilson while he was writing this piece and made sure no micro was missed. If the mention of Beoir was too oblique it was not because they were unaware of us and I suspect heavy handed editing may have been at fault.

My advice would be to take this article as the positive thing that it is and not assume that the fact that Beoir did not get the prominent billing you would have liked is down to a lack of effort by Beoir officers.

I was delighted with the coverage, not to mention the news that Galway Hooker are bottling soon!

I did my first all-grain brew yesterday and after an insanely long brew day (10+ hours, caused by a probably 4+ hour rebuild of the mash tun right in the middle) I came inside, put my feet up and picked up the Times Magazine, and was absolutely delighted by the front page being about, of all things, beer!

I would say though that, to be the teeniest tiniest bit constructively critical, the word "brain-child" was used... how many times? Still and all though, the fact that it was considered worth four pages is great, and the actual journalism was very good as well (I'll be honest, I kinda would've expected to read about Galway Hooker's bottling plans here before I read it in the national press - seems Beoir's intelligence network finally has some competition!)

I do see it as a positive thing- However as CAMRA was deemed 'worthy' enough to appear in the first paragraph, yet Beoir was not (heavy editing or no) says to me that we really have to work on our profile- hence a PR team.

As I see it, Beoir's job is to support and promote Irish craft brewing. When an article that's entirely about Irish craft brewing appears in the media, there's no need for Beoir to be there.

It's Beoir's job to get things like this article, and the BEER feature from last summer, written -- as comprehensively as possible -- in the first place. And that's what Beoir has been doing.
