Word has it that Messrs Maguire has been serving its 2009 Juløl for some weeks now. This is apparently some sort of Big Secret as no-one's bothered posting to the board yet. So here it is.

Yay! Up with this sort of thing!

Have you tasted this year's batch?

16 years 5 months ago #3

Nope. Give us an hour or so.

Though the elite members of the Grand Juløl Conspiracy can probably tell you more about it.

No conspiracy - partly we assumed that people would know about it already, and partly I just forgot to post. I'll leave it to TBN to describe the beer in question after he has tried it, suffice to say grainne and I both enjoyed it a lot...also a bargain at only 4 euro!

I had a pint the other weekend but get out so little that I assumed it was common knowledge.

It was served fa too cold, as usual, but it has nice sweet malt and body along with a citrus flavour that is bordering on washing up liquid like note.

Fatal to Irish craft beer, this sort of behaviour. Consider yourselves on report.

Julól (as the pumpclip has it) is a lot sweeter than the last iteration, and nicer for it. Very interesting spice complexity at the end. It's definitely served waay too cold. Best order a second pint with the first, IMO.
