Since everyone else is weighing in...

Why is it still OK to depict the Irish as drunken, belligerent, and ignorant?

Brands have changed in the US recently out of respect for African-Americans, Latinos, Native Americans and Asians[/url:iknm606m], yet - inexplicably - the Notre Dame Fighting Irish[/url:iknm606m] logo and Lucky Charms[/url:iknm606m] cartoons carry on.

What bothers me about the labels is they're a reminder that political correctness and multi-culturalism somehow don't extend to the Irish (abroad, anyway).

ps - The beer is decent. The stickers are cowardly.

I find the McGargles product rather bland and the marketing a bit tacky...but it's not the worst of the Irish craft beers out there. IMHO it's sold as a easy going 'gateway' craft beer...some punters will get the taste for trying something different then move quickly on to more hoppy, flavourful beers (hence why few people seem to like them here).
Possibly the sticker-troll thinks it's a macro product, as McGargles beers are stocked in all the major supermarkets, those cluster packs taking up a fair amount of space on the shelf (plus the Lidl stuff too)...maybe it's a competitor....who knows...
I think the Grafters beers point in the right direction, and some of those AllTech brews I sampled in February are worth a try selling...I think the risk will be worth it.
Anyway, no stickers at Supervalu Longford today...

My earlier point may have come across poorly. I found the comment I quoted to seem to me to be classic victim blaming -well what did you expect going out in that branding, to that shop? - kind of thing. I didn't think it appropriate.

People are entitled to an opinion. The McGargles brand is obnoxious.
