Yep, I think it's targeting this "romantic idea of Ireland" that tourists/ people outside Ireland sometimes have. Some made-up little island off the coast, beer brewed in a bathtub (Poitín comes to mind), characters named "Joe", "Mary" and "Maeve".....

[i:19oah8tv]Every single one[/i:19oah8tv] of them on Linkedin are connected to Molson Coors.

Either a group of commercial directors upped and left to start their own massive operation [b:19oah8tv]or[/b:19oah8tv] they've all been told to not mention the involvement by MC and to make it appear as if it's a new brewery.

I know what I think it is. They are everywhere, it would take an incredible amount of money and distribution power to get into all the spars and pubs etc. Let alone the branding, glassware and the coffin/shipping type boxes that are appearing in the pubs with the lights.

Stinks of MC

Pretty sure it is the first scenario.

I'd say so, too. I suspected MC involvement from the start as well. While the branding is shite, it still looks very expensive, and that website would surely cost a lot as well. Plus all the merchandise... what start-up would have the money to get all that done? None.

Also the fact that they came out of nowhere. Usually people who are looking to go commercial are active on forums beforehand, talking to other new/experienced brewers, asking for advice, trying to network, etc.. and joining Beoir wouldn't have hurt either! Even if they worked for a huge company before, going it alone is scary for anyone. If you really cared about what you're doing, you'd want to make sure you're known in the Irish craft beer world and people can put a face to your brand and know you're the real deal before your beer starts appearing in pubs, no?

But there have been plenty of contract operations in recent years who either first came to this forum because we were already talking about them, or didn't come near us. Árainn Mhór, Time, Strangford Lough: all were brand-first, beer-second. And none of them lasted very long.

But not everyone does that by any means. It's not how Diageo and Heineken made their millions, is how I guess the rationale goes, flashy branding should be enough.

I don't think there's any reason to suspect Molson Coors, or any big brewery, is involved in McGargle's.
