I kinda get what you're trying to do but I'm confused as to how one site will have more sway over another in promoting craft beer. Am I missing something? Is it just a money thing? Is creating an exclusive club the incentive to create cash glow?
I'm not having a go btw, I'm just genuinely curious. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

ICB is a website and that is all it has ever been. However, it is the closest thing to a beer consumers organisation that exists in Ireland and that is why I and other members have ended up on radio, TV and in the newspapers, talking about beer and trying to fulfil a role ICB was never intended for.

Beoir is not a website. Beoir is an organisation representing the interests of beer enthusiasts in Ireland. The Beoir area of the ICB forum is simply a convenient place for us to discuss campaign strategies, etc. but do not confuse it with the organisation itself. Beoir is not restricted to the internet.

We want to be able to go to the press, the government and anyone else we might need to talk to and say we represent a consumer group, not just a website.

how is Beoir pronounced?

As possibly an aside to this, how do people feel to putting a euro into a glass during every meet up to pay for site hosting/costs to the bar etc.?

And to add to what Séan said -- yes: it's just a money thing.

Let's set as a goal a beer festival like the sort CAMRA runs. Or several. Let's think of newsletters in pubs like the ones CAMRA has. Let's think of a pub handbook of the sort CAMRA publishes.

ICB cannot do that. Beoir, hopefully, can.

And if you're worried about the beer content on Internet discussion forums, go have a look at what's free and available to non-members (like me) on the CAMRA board[/url:20pnoyyc]. There's nothing to be gained from hiding content from people.

why can't ICB do it? Is it the fact that its called Irish Craft Brewer? Is the name misleading?
