This makes me so angry. What possible rational is there for glasses being banned from this when they are used in every pub and restaurant in the country?

H&S need no rationale. If you don't agree with them then you are an evil, unpatriotic paedophile, or something.

its made more idiotic due to the fact the ocktoberfest held in the same location uses stein glasses and pauliner glasses but there is no arguing with H and S we should considier ourselfs lucky to be allowed to drink beer at all.

Bit confused about the glass issue, you are given a plastic glass to drink from but if you pay 10 euro, you are given a glass <!-- s:o --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_surprised.gif" alt=":o" title="Surprised" /><!-- s:o --> . A correct glass for each drink is always preferred. The charging is a bit putting off too,I will be working this weekend and will get feedback about peoples attitudes to this. I would have considered that the costs should have being put on to the pint.

Anyone going in on the Thursday? I'll be in for 6:30pm. That'll probably be me done for the weekend.

I'd imagine it's a condition of the public liability insurance policy. One off events are probably considered a lot riskier than established premises. While glasses are used in pubs, it's fairly standard for plastic to be used for outdoor events. Septemberfest used a rigid plastic that didn't really affect the enjoyment of the beer.
