TOPIC:

As some of you are aware, Marchfest will be on from the 14th to the 19th of March (possibly to the 20th as it is a bank holiday). It will be at the IFSC, same place as the Oktoberfest. Beoir has been invited to participate and the organisers (well, Seamus and Bruce) are open to ideas if we want to do any events. Dublin County Council have made it obligatory that they get in paid stewards so we won't be manning the front door this time.

There is also an idea to run a series of talks/presentations. This will take place at GHQ. Both Dublin CoCo and the fest organisers are keen on topics such as the history of beer in Ireland and the science of beer. The idea is to have the festival all about the quality and diversity of beer rather than 'drinking to get drunk'.

Also, they are looking for a name for the festival. Both Paddyfest and Boozefest is out; Marchfest was my idea but it's still open for suggestions.

So any ideas/feedback???

Idesfest (bad, I know, but I'm sure someone will get in the word Ides into a good name) or Springfest.

Just glad someone put the brakes on "paddyfest".
Other than that input, I am useless!

I quite like SpringFest, though there's nothing wrong with something more prosaic, IMO: "Docklands Craft Beer Festival", f'rinstance.

That's a long gig: six or seven days.

I should be around for it and would be happy to do a talk or two.

It's a long gig but given the number of tourists that are in Ireland around that time they might be able to draw a good crowd each day. Running out of beer might be a concern though.
