Another brewer told me at Septemberfest that the promoters were looking for a lot from them in terms of percentage of turnover. He thought it would not be feasible for them to be there.

Mind you, I'm still going myself.

[/quote:mrvaqgs8]I've also been told this is the case.

Ultimately the organisers will suffer. I think they are being short sighted by hitting the breweries with such high charges relative to the other beer festivals. If it's not viable for the brewers to attend it will end up being a bottled beer festival. Will the Great IRISH beer festival be devoid of Irish beer in the coming years?

Not my local! <!-- s:( --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" title="Sad" /><!-- s:( -->
Carlow is a desert as far as selection is concerned. Ye city folk don't know how lucky ye are!!!!!
Even my closest good one (Kilkenny) does not have it and they DO have a good selection.

Mind you I was being slighly sarcastic.... <!-- s:wink: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt=":wink:" title="Wink" /><!-- s:wink: -->

As you might have guessed from the name, I'm pretty new to this so I am still working my way around the beers I CAN get. This will be a way of sampling a few in one place.
I have never been to Galway <!-- s:oops: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_redface.gif" alt=":oops:" title="Embarassed" /><!-- s:oops: --> so will make a weekend of it with a few friends and have a bit of fun.

Hotels are cheaper in both than in Galway too <!-- s:P --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" title="Razz" /><!-- s:P -->
