Most of my bottled beer is gone but I am pretty sure I have more cloaked stranger stout in one of my crates. The one under the 25kg crate of grain so I have not ventured under there for a peek but there should be a good few left.

It will be a good taste subject since it was my first all grain beer and a damn fine stout.

We were just going through the bits and pieces we will be using for show and tell at the Septemberfest and we have one important item missing: a coolbox mashtun. I will bring and show the muslin sheet method but if anyone has a cooler with manifold they can bring, it would allow us to demonstrate how different methods and equipment can be used to get the same results.

That's the stuff! I think I might have a few bottles of Dubbelish left, so I think we're in business. It's going to be a pretty dark sampling so far.

Séan,
grainne and I still have a couple of bottles of our Dobbinworthy if you want to use that as an example of trying to clone a commercial brew (and one that will be available at the event too, I assume). The maltiness is coming through now, so I think it's actually a bit closer than it was when folks tasted it at the B&C back in July. We also have a Gingered Blonde Ale which has plenty of ginger heat if you want to give folks an idea of using "alternative" ingredients. Both are extract beers. How many bottles of each would you need, if you're interested?
Cheers, bighair/Tim

Bighair, that sounds great. Having extract and all grain, in the tasting balances things nicely and I love the idea of fielding a clone of a beer some of the attendees will have tasted recently. The Ginger beer shows how you can innovate within the hobby. As to how many bottles we will need, I have no idea. How many can you spare?

I'd say we only have 2 or 3 of the Dobbinworthy at most I'm afraid, will have to dig around. Can certainly spare a few of the Ginger Blonde, but will have to put it aside, we're enjoying it ourselves a bit too much <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) --> That would allow you to give a few folks a small taste - depends how many you are expecting at the presentation. Also have a Honey Ale which is a bit young at the moment, but if it has improved by Sunday week, you can have a few of those too.
Cheers, Tim
