Porterhouse Irish beer and whiskey festival 2009. 17 years 2 months ago #1

The Porterhouse management have been in contact with us about their upcoming Irish Beer and Whiskey festival and they are wondering if we would like to get involved.

The festival itself will run from the 26th of March to the 5th of April, culminating in a tasting of Irish beers, with celebrity judges announcing the winners of the Michael Jackson award for best Irish beer.

Where we come in is more or less up to us. The nice people from The Porterhouse are open to suggestions for events and I want you to put your thinking caps on and come up with some good ideas.

I hereby throw the thread open to wild and wacky suggestions (sensible suggestions also considered) for what we might do to help make this a fun event which also promotes quality Irish beer.

The nitro verses cask stout challenge?, can you taste the differance

That would require the existence of a cask stout.

Are there any prizes we can do. Best beer is already being done. How about "Best Irish alcoholic beverage and cheese combination" or something with a better title?

Something foody might be good all right.

How about a public brew day? Clear some space in the Temple Bar branch (the usual event space on the ground floor by the vestigial doors, perhaps), and set up three or four tame brewers behind a cordon making beer.
