The ballot papers each gave a first preference to one of eight beers. These therefore make up the shortlist from which the final top three are selected. They are (in alphabetical order):

Blarney Blonde
Clotworthy Dobbin
Galway Hooker
Messrs Maguire Bock
O'Hara's Celebration
Phúca
Porterhouse Plain
Wrassler's XXXX

I don't know how many of these six breweries will have representation at the Franciscan Well Easter Festival, but I'm sticking with the notion of making the announcement there, early-ish on the Saturday.

I would assume most would be there - so it's probably as good a place as any.

Will the shortlist be whittled down more before then, or will we have to wait?

Nope. That's your lot until the big day.

And speaking of the big day, I assume we're doing the Beer of the Festival thing again this year: same rules as last year -- no voting just consensus, with only special edition beers eligible?

In the absence of an actual beer list (can anyone get hold of one?) this would make the eligible beers so far: Druid's Brew, Galway Hooker Dark Wheat, MM Imperial and whatever UCC are bringing.
