Danske Ølentusiaster, Denmark's beer drinkers' organisation, have secured a recently-vacated section of the Carlsberg brewery for a weekend in September to hold their annual shindig.
Since the place has a capacity of about 20,000, they're scaling it up to a full European Beer Festival and are expecting to have in the region of 2000 beers from 450 breweries -- that's a little bigger than the Great American Beer Festival.
Three-day tickets have just gone on sale (costing about €43, with a few beer tokens thrown in). Day passes are also available. I'm going, as is Declan of the B&C. Anyone else fancy it? We may never see a beer event this size in our part of the world again.
Copenhagen, incidentally, has lots to do and see for accompanying travellers who may not be so keen on attending a beer festival. There's a lovely mermaid, for instance...
