[quote:1cov6y1n]So far only 13 people including myself have voted this is no a quorum of the membership and the festival organiser has given us full permission and does not fell his festival is being hijacked[/quote:1cov6y1n]13 is an improvement on last year and it sounds like everyone there will be willing to sample beers for the ICB festival award. It's encouraging to see that the festival organisers don't have a problem with us aknowledging our favourite beers. I did wonder last year whether they would feel we were jumping on the bandwagon without their approval.

I think the Hooker beer will be a special for the festival - hopefully the usual spots will carry it and any other specials. It's good to see more seasonals in the pipeline. I would have liked to sample more of Carlow's cask stout from last year but I know cask beer presents its own challenges in Ireland.

Being of fickle nature, I've had a think about this, and changed my mind again.
I voted for Category-based, on the basis/assumption that there should be a minimum amount of beers, say three, for a category to be voted on. No point in having a fruit beer category if there's only going to be one fruit beer.

For clarification, and since we are without our script-wizard, does that mean we move one vote from Category to General at the end?

I should add that if we do go category-based at the end it would be madness to decide the categories in advance for precisely that reason. We'd need to look at everything available on the day and assign a category to each one in a way that puts every beer in competition with something else.

You mean the poll? No, I hadn't voted previously.

Precisely.

The Hooker beer is rumoured to be an old style choclate stout. The Bierhaus will get one keg, but it cannot be sampled until after festival. I could convience Dave to keep it for Icb members on weekend after festival, so Bigears if you are in Cork a week or two after the festival we might be able to do something.

Cheers Rebel, I don't know when I'll be down next, it probably won't be that soon, but I appreciate the gesture. I imagine B&C will probably have it too so hopefully I'll get to sample it.
