We obviously have a clear divergence of views!!!!!

What we were suggesting that one or more members would each sample all beers of a certain type of beer at the festival, award the best in that category and then others or all previous judges would judge all the category winners at the overall winner. It could all be done relatively early in the afternoon and then give people a chance to mix and try whatever other beers they wish. For the sampling purposes we had suggested each judge would be do a blind tasting of half pint glasses of each of his type or drink, i.e. red ale, stout. etc.

The idea of judging after say 6 or 7 pints of different beers would to put it mildly be more than a little hazy!

At then end of the day it is a beer festival where we are all going to enjoy different drinks. I fully concur with Beernut's comment that brewers might not want our awards - a poisoned chalice!!!!

In conversation with Shane Long,Co Owner, manager and festival organiser of the Easterfest, he told me a new Hooker beer is being launched at festival.

he also would be delighted if any of the Franscian Wells beer won any award at festival and he has no problem with the Icb doing there own judging. He told me the porterhouse tried to do the same thing in 2000, but the awards never kept going because there was no independence outside the micro breweries.

So the excuse the breweries would be put out is a non runner. If you only give one award say like the Hooker last year then other beers and styles get nothing despite being the best in thier category.

So far only 13 people including myself have voted this is no a quorum of the membership and the festival organiser has given us full permission and does not fell his festival is being hijacked
