Are these statistics right?
Just curious as well, whats considered 'in moderation' and how many of us drink in moderation?

'Alcohol causes one in 10 cancers in men and one in 33 cancers in women - a total of 900 new cancer cases each year in Ireland.

Drinking one standard alcoholic drink a day is associated with a 9 per cent increase in the risk of developing breast cancer, while drinking three to six standard drinks a day increases the risk by 41 per cent.

Irish drinkers consume 700 times the recommended amount of alcohol needed to prevent cancer'

Realistically, there are 900 new cancers a year....of a population of how many? If we're all drinking that much too much it appears one of these years we'd expect a few of our line up to be mentioned.....lies damned lies and statistics..

Don't worry Lars, looks like you slightly increase one risk by drinking, but reduce other risks to the extent that you have a longer life expectancy than an abstainer[/url:3imhvark].
