As Noby said; this thread should not be seen as a "have a go at the B & C". It's just that we "care" about the B & C, because it is an oasis in the desert of fizzylagerland! I'm okay with music; but to be able to carry out a conversation without having to shout at the person next to you is the bottom line.

I don't have any problem with the B & C playing music because they would likely have to close otherwise and that would be devastating. It just seems crazy having music so loud that you can't even talk and no dance floor to lose yourself on. This goes for any establishment. I like music a great deal. I have around 12000 songs on my mp3 player and my only interest ahead of it are brewing and books. So a night out that includes good music is a pleasure to me. But music that is too loud and in the wrong context can ruin everything.

Music is fine in a pub as long as I can hear the person next to me. Once it gets so loud that I have to shout, I start looking at the door. This is why I avoid the Porterhouse, most of the time. Same with Messrs; I love their beer but I can only go there lunch times.

I don't care for toilet attendants. I'm generally alright with music.

Yeah thats also something I hate. I'm quite capable of turning on and off the tap, and of extracting a piece of paper from the hand towel machine. Also dickhead bouncers (no problem with courteous friendly ones), and queues for the sake of queues.

TBH for me the music depends on what it is. I could listen to indie/punk/Trad/Folk/Singer-songwriter type stuff no worries, as long as I can still hear people talking. Stick on pretty much any mainstream chart stuff and I'm out of there. My ideal combo would B&C with PhantomFM DJs.
