I have always found ATG noisy and it was always because it was packed. I see no reason for the loud music to draw in the crowd. The TV for major sporting events is a good move and was always on the cards from day 1. Hopefully we are only talking big games like Irish rugby games etc and not every sport on TV.

I think they said on FB that you have to book a table for the TV when there is a match on.

ATG is without doubt my favourite pub. Mostly I would go there on a Saturday afternoon or early evening. Great range of craft beers, great food, friendly and knowledgeable bar staff and no tv-all the boxes ticked for me. One of the great draws for me is no tv, I'm a big sports fan but a Saturday afternoon in a packed pub with lads screaming at a tv is not my idea of a good time. I know ATG have installed a screen upstairs so hopefully downstairs will remain tv free!

I think they were at pains to point out when they installed the TV that it would only be upstairs, so hopefully they will stick to that.

Well, at least the acoustics are better than the Black Sheep. Was in there a couple of Fridays ago around 9:30pm - unbelievable racket! I rarely go to any of the Cottage Group bars on Fridays/Saturdays anymore...just can't deal with it!

You need to try the bar at The Dark Horse...

Do I need to try it because it's a complete and utter racket that'll make the other bars seem tranquil...or is it a peaceful nirvana?!
