Remnants of old breweries for photo project 13 years 1 week ago #1

Hi guys,

Just joined with a purpose.
I'm currently doing a photo project trying to find signifiers of old breweries pre-corporation dominance. So looking at taking photos of signs and old brewery buildings that are no longer operating, in disrepair or in ruins. Also looking for old signage that might hang in pubs of long-closed Irish breweries.
I've read a few articles saying that finding this might be actually quite difficult.
Can anybody recommend a few places I could start finding stuff like this, preferably in Dublin?
Thanks a mill,

Brian

The walls of Porterhouse Temple Bar are the best source for this stuff I've ever found.

There is still a Celtic Brewing sign just the far side (from Dublin, that is) of Enfield. That might be a bit "recent" for you though. Drive through Enfield village, through the roundabout heading west, and it's on the right hand side. You'll have to turn around as it faces traffic coming from the west.

As far as I know, the old Cairns brewery building in Drogheda has been incorperated into the Scotch Hall shopping centre. It now houses a bar/restaurant called W.M. Cairns.
They have a fair bit of Cairns memorabilia.

Go to Kells (County Meath ) to see the current reincarnation of a purpose-built brewery ( from 1942 approx ) in the form of ..Oliver Usher, Auctioneers..
a 'few doors'..'north of' the ..Headfort Arms, Hotel..
See its story elsewhere on this site.
