Tesco clarehall, which might be the largest Tesco in the country now has a better selection of English ale than many supermarkets in the North, also on the 5 for Eur10 deal. There were a few I hadn't seen on sale in Ireland before including Courage Best Bitter, Youngs London Gold and Castle Rock Harvest. They also have Ruddles County and Tangelfoot in cans for 4 for Eur6.

Have been in both Clarehall and Maynooth and Maynooth is bigger. Have not been to the one in Naas.but I believe they have some homebrew equipment down there(King Kegs and some coopers)

Maynooth did have a good selection when I was there on Thursday and they were restocking.

Tesco in Longford which is no great shakes expanded their range of English beer dramatically sometime last week. I was in there on Friday morning and they had about 30 different beers in 500ml bottles all at 5 for a tenner.

They also had a few American beers - two from Shipyard brewery in Maine, who I had never heard of and Goose Island IPA which I absolutely love. These were 1.50 a bottle. The Shipyard export was quite nice but not a patch on the Goose Island to my taste.

I am very much impressed - this can only be a good thing for the availability of good beer in Longford as it is very difficult and/or expensive to get a decent pint. I snapped up a good selection and also sent the word around as they will only keep this up if people buy it.

Meanwhile, Dunnes have the usual suspects of Hobgoblin, Speckled hen and Spitfire. No offence, but these have got a bit boring at this stage.
