I think Marstons use Magic Beans in their casks to help with travel. Not sure about Fullers.

No reason a cask can't be transported from the UK and be in perfect condition when it arrives. What happens between when it gets here and when it gets to the customers glass is much more important.

Cask beer requires a skill from the publican that keg beer does not. Does the pub have a cellar set up to deal with casks and will there be someone there who understands about stillage time, soft and hard spiles, etc?

Having said that, I would rather see an Irish micro brewing the beer and it might even end up cheaper than shipping from the UK and arranging for a bonded warehouse. You should enquire at least.

Equally, one could get bright beer like Doom Bar: cask-served but not "Real Ale", but sure over here, who cares?

This is the nub of it.

Also, don't buy generic beer and stick an faux name on it, that while not related to the owner, tries to portray something false, like [i:13m85kl6]Micky O'Murphy's Real Ale[/i:13m85kl6], for example.

My advice, if you're going to sell UK beer, sell a UK brand, like Fullers. Only if it's brewed locally can it have a local-ish name, like Micky O'Murphy's or the bar owner's own name.

My advise is play your cards a little closer to your chest and if you can make money without compromising your principles go for it!

While I understand this point, it does raise a sticky issue.

Are the brewmaster, and his recipes, nationality, sensibilities more important than where the beer is actually made?

Most Mikkeller beers are brewed at De Proefbrouwerij in Belgium or Nogne O in Norway. So are Mikkeller not Danish beers?

I'm not sure where I fall on this, but I thought I'd stir things up a bit (without meaning to hijack the thread) by asking.
