Hi Andrew
Where is brook lodge? Truthfully it would suit me to stick around Dublin and hit all the usual spots

It's in Aughrim, Wicklow. About an hours drive south. It's home to Irelands only certified Organic Restaurant; It also boast a great spa facility and a golf course (if you are into that sort of thing).

Actually, it would probably be a good place to have a beer festival as Evan Doyle (one of the owners) is really active in the areas of Slow Food and Euro Toque. There's also a nice little farmers market there on the first Sunday of each month.

I've been meaning to go there for years but never got round to it. Is it accessible by public transport?

Leo Vradkar is looking at running a cable car there and back from the Burren.

Unfortunately no, like all the good places in Wicklow. There's a bus that runs from Arklow on Fridays and that's it. You could chance Finnegans in Bray and see if they will get you anywhere near.

[EDIT]
Just found this on Brooklodge's website:

[quote:1r4xk3id][b:1r4xk3id]From Dublin by Train[/b:1r4xk3id]
Trains run from Dublin Connolly, Tara St., & Pearse Street Stations to Rathdrum Village. It’s a beautiful journey, travelling all along the South Dublin and North Wicklow coast, before turning inland to Rathdrum. Trains run everyday, with approximately 6 trains per day midweek & 3/4 trains per day at the weekend. Some trains have limited space for bicycles if guests wish to bring their own with them. The train also passes through Dun Laoghaire and serves Rosslare Harbour so it can be used for transfers from the Ferries. The fare is approx €20 return.

We can organise Aughrim Cabs to collect you from Rathdrum for the 15 minute drive and the cost is €20 (for up to 4 people) each way.[/quote:1r4xk3id]

It's about 9km from Rathdrum if you want to bring a bike- just be aware it's quite hilly and you are prone to kamikaze attacks from the local pheasant population.

Get yourself a V8. Nothing sounds better around the mountains than a Chevy 350 (nothing sounds better than a Chevy 350 anyway (ok, maybe a 454 does)). Takes you to lots of places where you can have beer. V8's are beer enablers.
