Mine went from flat to foam-fest. Did you prime or force carb?[/quote:1s7a03uy]

I rather stupidly force carbed with CO2 <!-- s:? --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_confused.gif" alt=":?" title="Confused" /><!-- s:? -->

Reason: Don't set up a new stout at about 10 pm at night after a few brews.

This was foam heaven so depressurised the corny and hooked up to the correct mix (25/75 CO2/N2 ) at relativley low pressure ( 20 psi ).

This was still too foamy comming through a guiness tape ( with micro plate and plastic thingy.

Currently am running through a long cooling coil ( 20 meters or so ) in the fridge and dispensing with a normal ( non G. ) tap with flow control set down from full open about 1/3 of the way.

Am now getting a reasonable pour and about 3/4" to an inch head on a pint.

Still working on it though <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

Time to go pour the first of the day <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

Last night had a bottle of the Porterhouse 11% stout that was fermented in whisk(e)y casks.

Tremendous stuff. <!-- s8) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_cool.gif" alt="8)" title="Cool" /><!-- s8) --> <!-- s8) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_cool.gif" alt="8)" title="Cool" /><!-- s8) --> <!-- s8) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_cool.gif" alt="8)" title="Cool" /><!-- s8) -->

Had my first bottle of Jaipur last night. After reading so much about it perhaps my expectations were too high. I found multiple layers of aromas, pineapple, citrus, ginger. The taste was very very good. I found it soft yet full. Will drink again, but don't know if it lives upto the reports. I think the Kipling is a better beer.

Also had the Odell IPA. Fantastic. Big flavours, refreshing yet warming at 7%, but dangerously easy to drink. Would like to do a blind tasting with Goose Island IPA.

Interesting to see the difference in approaches to two IPAs. The Americans have the edge imo but the prices are a bit off putting as are the 12oz bottles. If only they'd bottle in grown up sizes.

Found the Spaten a bit thin and sparse for my taste.

Schofferhofer is a decent workaday Weiss. Won't win prizes but at €1.49 it is very good value.

Tonights menu features Helvick Gold and O'Hara IPA. Toulon v Stade Francais on the box, perfect evening.
