The thing is, I thought the event organisers had got over the 'paddification' of the festival. I even managed to get 'St Paddy's' vetoed in favour of 'St. Patricks'. However, I sense the PR firm might have had a role in this...

As mentioned, it's down... One of the ladies that was complaining has put up a link for them to view on women & advertising.

I think BeerNut is correct that this is probably the wrong road to go down in promoting this event and craft brewing in general. I don't think you have to be uber-P.C to understand how that type of advert is not going to appeal to many women...

I would not agree that it only sells tacky things,it is simply a fact that we humans like sex and are influenced by it. The image of the fine good looking women in the picture is old school presentation. The message in this example is not what the marketer should be promoting, but hunkey dorys now thats another thing, makes me want to follow ladies rugby.

Can nobody come up with a good quip about pretty ladies and beer goggles. If anything deserves such a quip, this does!

On a slightly related note...
Was watching a thing on bbc i think.
That aussie comedian with a fake leg (not that well known i wouldnt think) was meeting a dwarf fella for a few days to get inspiration for a show and see how he lived.

The dwarf fella was explaining how he gets a lot of work in pantos and pr stuff - just cos hes a dwarf. Every christmas he plays a part in snow white and the 7 dwarfs.
He says he regularly comes across people campaining saying "oh you cant be exploiting dwarves by making them play the part of a dwarf" He says there is never a dwarf involved in the campain. He says a dwarf is the best person the play the part and the PC crowd are just doing dwarfs out of jobs.

So im going to apply this logic to the current subject. The women involved in campaining against this type of thing are just do gooders, who are prob not in a opsition to be exploited themselves (i.e. fat and ugly) with nothing else to worry about and are actually doing some women, who want, and are entitled to, work, out of a job.

PS: I dont care whether its brian cowen or geogia salpa promoting it, I still wont be here to go <!-- s:( --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" title="Sad" /><!-- s:( --> - (id murder a bag of hunky dories now)
