Beautiful day for a photo shoot to help launch the St Paddy's All-Ireland Craft Beerfest, with O'Hara's Irish Stouts and Ales. Thanks also to Emma and Lyn, great job.[/quote:2b518g6l]

From 8 Degrees' facebook page.

There are a number of rather irate ladies posting in the comments, less than enthused about what they see as 'boring' / sexist choice of advertising.

On the one hand: There are worse things happening in the world and my first reaction was to write it off as an overreaction to what is a fairly harmless photograph.

On the other hand... While I doubt 'Hunky Dorys' ad controversies hurt their sales that much, Irish craft brewing in general seems to be making headway amongst Irish foodies (a significant number of whose big hitters are female)... Is this the best idea in light of that? Clearly a fair chunk of people find this type of thing offensive to at least some degree.

I guess one way around this would be to release a sequel pic with some burly farmers with their tops off or something.

yeah a little bit tired, i'd rather have had John McKenna and Tom Doorley helping to launch it but if a picture editor is offered photos of those 2 guys or 2 young women I'm fairly sure I know which one he'll go for (and it's usually a he).

This kind of debate will still be going on 100 years from now, what ever the PC brigade say will not change one fact, sex sells, and non PC people (most of us),both men and women take this with a pinch of salt.

Thankfully I have final say on which images get used on the Beerfest website.
