It seems anything with orange ends been like prison brew

Orange peel works well in Wit Beers. Never tried it in anything else.

I think I'll just stop using orange, for now. I got too much rancor to even juice an orange, these days. But who knows, some time later...

I'm just thinking, the first recipe I intend to use for all grain contains cardamom (Exotic IPA). Maybe not the smartest thing to do, starting with extravagant spices. Would you rather go for a "basic" recipe, such as the one advised by Séan here[/url:w7cu014h] ?

[/quote:3eel2vnp]In a word: Yes. as the title of the article says, 'Keep it Simple'. It's your first brew and you'll have enough going on without making it more difficult for yourself.

I agree with Bigears. For a first time all grain a simple grain bill and hop addition will produce a nice clean tasting beer.
You don't want to muddy the waters with too many different flavours; that can follow when you've your process down.

I know you're right. But it's so tempting to start with something original. I'll follow your advice and start with a basic recipe. But I'll probably spice up one demijohn, just to see. C'mon, just one...
