Thanks for the suggestions lads. I particularly like the look of the Strasbourg Goose.

Even though I'm a card-carrying carnivore, I'm always impressed with lunch at Cafe Paradiso.

Liberty Grill on Washington Street is a favorite of mine. The Brick Oven a little out of town on the corner of Bishops Street and Crosses Green (google it) has the best pizza in Cork IMHO. Upstairs in Electric on the South Mall does great brunch and is nice and relaxed, great for families. La Boqueria for Tapas just across the bridge from Patrick Street. Amicus on Paul street is lovely, right in town too.

I'd recommend Hardwood too, especially as it's next door to the Bierhaus. For relatively cheap & cheerful food, the Cornstore (on the Coal Quay) and Market Lane (Oliver Plunkett St) are good. If you feel like splashing out, I love Augustine's in the Clarion Hotel, and The Ivory Tower on Oliver Plunkett St. (not recommended if you like plain food, very unusual menu to match the strange surroundings!).

Also, Greene's on MacCurtain Street does a good early bird menu, and it's within striking distance of the Abbott Ale House if you can convince the missus.

Edited to say that I just realised you probably spent this weekend in Cork, meaning my recommendations are useless, sorry!

As a card carrying vegetarian Cafe Paradiso is superb, best vegetarian restaurant I've ever been in.
