You're going to have to explain, to me at least, who this George Leekens bloke is. He sounds wonderful.

It's a football thing. Manager of Belgium back when Ireland lost in '97, and manager of KAA Ghent when Bohs lost a few years back.

What they fail to mention is how much of a geebag he is, which is a matter I've taken to redressing whenever possible.

I'd also recommend the Bier Circus, Rue de l'Enseignement for good choice of beer (200+) and reasonably priced food. It's a bit out from the centre but not that far-a E10 taxi would cover it, and it's closed at weekends. Additionally, if your dates include 31st Aug - 2nd Sept then the Brussels Beer Weekend takes place in the Grand Place. Have never been to it myself; seems to be a commercially organised beer festival but looks interesting. Have a look at <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="www.weekenddelabiere.be">www.weekenddelabiere.be and click on "cheers" for the English version.

Yeah, I was gonna mention Beer Circus, but I notice it has moved and gone all upmarket. When I was there it was a really grotty front room - back room affair. If it wasn't for the phonebook-sized beer list you'd steer clear.

And a fine job you're doing too; if you carry on I'm sure any Google search for George Leekens will return results of 'that geebag George Leekens'. Oops, I just helped get you on your way...

you could walk to the beer circus from the main square(even when drunk) its only ten mins or so. i have to say i was a little let down as most bars just serve pils. some of it is nice stuff but its a little watery for me and alot of it lacked in flavour. THE dELERIUM cafe is worth a trip even just to try the large selection on tap which are all fairly good...one thing stay away from the chilli beer.nasty stuff. there are a number of beer shops around selling kits and glasses etc. some nice ones just off the square again and are worth a look. i brought a kit home but havent got round to it yet. prices were not too bad but you sort of felt it was purely a tourist thing.enjoy
.....
oh watch out the beer circus closes after lunch until about 4 i think...got caught out last time
