There seems to be an abundance of software developers on this site, it appears to be an overly represented profession anyway.

Maybe it's because software development involves hours spent on t'Interweb, or maybe it cause a few beers helps with the coding... I know it does for me, hence my application to the company for a (subsidised) pub in the canteen.

Quite a few lab folk as well, isn't there?

I think there's about 4 of us lab folk, I reckon. I don't think the link between lab and brewing is nearly as strong as computers and brewing. I know I'd need to have a ready supply of brew if I were involved in software development. The little I did in college nearly melted my mind.

I guess the common trait amongst labbers and softies is that of a 'getting stuck in' sort of mindset. We're all fiddlers, messers, tinkerers, wanting to know 'what makes it work', and not afraid to try something new.
