I decided to move up from kits to a partial a while back and started looking around for a big enough pot and then it hit me that it would be just as cheep (nearly) to go all grain instead. So today I went off to Argos and picked up 2 nice little kettles which I have frankanstined with a little help from the pimp my kettle page. My work were selling 24L coolers last week for 16 yoyo's so gonna check tomorrow and hopefully get starting on a build over the weekend. Just have to get a new brew bucket from Donal to become a boiler and im nearly good to go. Have to sweet talk the Dad into making the grain strainer for the ton as he's an engineering genius and will knock it up in no time. Cant wait to get started.
Nice one Nigel, only dont this a few months ago.
In fact such a short length ago I'm only tasting my 1st brew now.
Same decision making process as yourself as well.
I enjoyed the brewery build a lot as well.
Its addictive alright. I only started brewing about 6 months ago and spend so much time now looking up recipes and styles. My mates are well impressed. Cant wait to get a few full brews under my belt. Am really likening Sam Adams at the mo so doing a bit of research and going for a nice Vienna Lager as my first all grain. Not to complicated but well nice.
Any tips or recipes would be well appreciated. I buy from bestbrew if anyone has any recipes that are doable form them.
Myself and a buddy spent a few hours yesterday getting all the bits and pieces together and now i have me a nice new mash ton. Looks the businness. Just need a new fermenter and I'm ready to get brewing. Going for a 32L one from bestbrew for that bit of extra boil space. Must get some pics when its all together. Hopefully by next weekend ill be good to go.
Got my mash ton made the other day and just did a test boil on my kettle.Perfect and so easy to make. Woodies were out of the bits to fit a tap to it but should be sorted by the weekend. Got all my grains from bestbrew the other day so I reckon my first all grain brew will be done some time over the weekend or early next week.
