@5.30 A PINT thats good value drinking, you'd have no quibs apying 5.30 for a 330 ml glass of it ( assuming the correct vessel or at least something to do it justice). So they must not be too concerned with making profit from the keg. A pure waste. I got a pint of Friar weiss in the well a few weeks back and it came in a standard pint glass, even that takes away from the enjoyment, half the pleasure is the look/feel/aroma

Have to concur with most views here already. Was in portehouse today - pint of westmaile duble for 5.30 in STANDARD pint glass. It defintely tasted a lot better last time i had it, of course that was from a bottle with the correct glass!! Yes the glass or at leas a right type of glass adds to the experience. Had hoped to try the La Chouffe but they wwere out of it. Was due in this evening. I was told I could wait for samae!! If I did I would be unconscious by now!!!!! Visited Messr Maugires before it and had a pint of their Best Bitter and Rusty (red ale). Rusty was fairly good and the Bitter was very good I must say. First time there. Whatever about the surroudings the bitter was very well recieved. Also procured a bottle of MM Bock (6.5) and Porter (5%) for home consumption.

Ireland's best beer ot best porter?

I think it's the only true porter in the sense that there is no roasted barley in it, unlike the Porthouse's plain porter. I think it's excellent too.

I had originally written "best stout" but deleted it, fearing the "what's stout and what's porter" debate, to which I don't think there are any satisfactory answers. But then it does stand well against the best beers coming out of Carlow, Maguire's, Francisan Well etc.
