Beamish Documentary: RTÉ 1, Monday 7th June, 7pm 15 years 11 months ago #1

A heads-up, via Ger Cork, that RTÉ are showing a documentary about the late Beamish brewery called "My Beamish Boy" at 7pm on RTÉ 1.

Very Good Doc ( I'm putting it in the Sky + ),

Won the Made in Cork Section of the Cork Film Festival 2 years ago. Well worth a watch

Looks like some good Bank Holiday Monday TV watching...

I enjoyed the documentary well put together.. Lots of vintage photos and reminiscing..

Another part of old cork gone. How long the Beamish brand will be supported / promoted by its new owners time will tell. In the short term at any rate there does not seem to be any deterioration in availability but in the long term who knows. It is the only brand that Heineken kept on so although it as an international business deal locally it would appear like one brewer literally bought out a rial and then shut it down virtually fully.

I enjoyed the documentary, but tbh it could've been about any historical Irish business closing it's doors. There wasn't a lot there for the beer geeks.

The bit about the buckets was funny though. <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

I agree with Atticus, not much about the beer! I wonder would that be because they didn't know much :p
Hah I kid I kid! I had a Beamish yesterday and it was alright. I don't know if it's the placebo effect but I can kinda taste a smidge more flavour than I get from Guinness.

Great little programme though. I was pretty envious of the workers as well as sad for them cause it sounded like a really good place to work. I wonder is Diageo any similar?

Was Beamish Red in anyway interesting or nice to drink?
