Hah I kid I kid! I had a Beamish yesterday and it was alright. I don't know if it's the placebo effect but I can kinda taste a smidge more flavour than I get from Guinness.

Great little programme though. I was pretty envious of the workers as well as sad for them cause it sounded like a really good place to work. I wonder is Diageo any similar?

[b:qzodynjx]Was Beamish Red in anyway interesting or nice to drink?[/b:qzodynjx][/quote:qzodynjx]

Only alright
It was red Ale for Lager drinkers really, popular with brits so only ever sold during the summer in tourist pubs in Ireland , in England it would have been a reasonably well known brand , and English people would have been surprised that Beamish made Stout . ( Few I met made that comment )

As far as I recall ( and I only drank it maybe twice a long time ago ) it was sweeter and more caramelly than smithwicks but an easier mouthfeel as well. Ok summer afternoon drink

Did Beamish also do a Lager? In a lot of the old pictures featured in the documentary the staff seemed to be holding up pints of Lager as well as Stout. Maybe it was just Harp or something but the pictures seemed to be taken from inside the Brewery.

They started brewing Carling in 1962, when Carling-O'Keefe became the owners.
