My wine tastes are not so finely attuned as my beer tastes yet to be honest, they don't get used as often <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

I don't really have a regular fallback (much like I don't have a regular anyway, although Hooker and Blarney Blonde are close at the moment). I just scan the taps, the fridge and the shelves and decide then. Last night I had a pint bottle of Guinness. First time I had one in years. Was pretty nice. At a wedding recently I fell back onto Carlsberg, but that wa in a small hotel bar where there was sod all choice anyway.

I always feel like a twonk doing that. We are conditioned to order without looking, which is horrible.

I agree. I refuse to be rushed into making a quick beer order. Usually the barman/woman comes over as I approach the bar and asks what I want, and I just tell them I'm having a look to see what they have first, then have a good lean over the bar to look in the fridge <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

the majority of those fridges only contain corona or Becks though!my local actually does a fantastic pint of guinness, well its more like a residence club, qutie cheap, full of old men, so tap is running constantly! and totaly against the run of convo, has anyone tried Sierra Nevada Porter? Had it in the Porterhouse recently. not bad

At the weekend I was up in Portrush, and the order went like this:
Me: Can I have a glass of red wine(SWMBO) and what beers have you got?
Him:Draught or bottle?
M:Draught:
H:Tennents, Stella, Magners, Guinness.
M:And bottle?
H:Budweiser, Corona, Magners, <something else>
M:Better make it 2 glasses of wine so.

Turns out that upstairs in the restaurant (which we went to after the wine) they had Draught Hoegaarden!!!! Why not downstairs as well I need to know. Rediculous
