So what? are you asking me to change my sig now? it's not a plug, it's a statement, another thing that is common practice in the uk!! Try to stick to the facts of the thread instead of twisting my words or bringing my sig into it, i'm not gonna even start about how you plug, here and on Jims eoinmag <!-- s:wink: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt="" title="Wink" /><!-- s:wink: -->

Relax, have a home brew

I buy from whoever is giving me the best deal. I prefer to keep as much of my money in my pocket as possible!

There is huge variation even among the Irish suppliers. Some prices are quite competitive, others are without explanation.

BestBrew in Athlone have free shipping for the month of May and while I find them generally a little bit pricey they're doing little bottler complete for a good price. So an order is gone in there.

Competition is healthy, and profiteering isn't.

When did I say to change your sig?

If you look back over the thread I didn't twist any words on anyone nor did I mention any shops.

I use all suppliers at some point or other, to just shop in one place kinda limits choice when better prices can be gotten for the same good.

That's enough for me, no need to get all aggressive all the time, it's kind of boring.

I don't brew my own beers so I'm of course not buying the ingredients but in relation the broad topic... it's kinda what I meant before about Irish people being not very good at capitalism. When you're getting overcharged by about 50% compared to what you can get elsewhere it's not good enough to wheel out the excuse "oh but buy local, buy Irish" etc.

As someone alluded to - just cause we're stuck on an island, that's no reason to rip people off. It's why people travelled to Northern Ireland for their shopping. Brian Lenihan's cut in spirits brought the price of a 12 yr Powers/Jameson down to €35 quid and change from about €38 but IDL had added that extra three quid on at the start of the recession anyway.
