TOPIC:

The Moral status of Bulk-Buying 16 years 1 week ago #1

This is a new thread because an off-topic discussion seems to have started on another thread I started here[/url:k7j2558y] concerning what our duties to local shops as opposed to buying stuff cheaper non-locally is.

My thread was supposed to just an offer of 25KG sacks of Bairds since there was room left on our bulk-buy pallet.

Why should it be a moral question at all? It's economics, is it moral to rip people off because they're a captive island population and you can?

It's called a free market do what you wish.

Personally I think it's ridiculous to suggest that it's a "Moral" issue to source a product at a cheaper cost anywhere other than your local supplier. It would only become a moral issue if the reason why the product was cheaper was due to the company using immoral acts to reduce costs.

Like seriously?!? is this even an issue?

well no, [i:2o4qabn4]I don't think it's an issue[/i:2o4qabn4] let alone a moral one, it's just there was this other thread and ppl were starting to rerun this old disagreement so I just thought I'd move it so I could get done what the thread was meant to do (see if anyone wanted to take the free space on my bulk buy)

What i suggested was that if continue with these bulk buys then the quality of service that we currently are lucky enough to receive will quickly dry up and we'll be back buying from England.
Not everything can be bought in bulk so when it all goes pear shaped come back and tell me how economically viable the bulk buys are then.
Like i said before, it's your own choice where you spend your money, all i wanted to do was point out what might not be obvious to everybody.

EoinMag, if you're gonna publically state that you feel you're being ripped off then i think it's fair that you tell us who it is you feel is ripping you off and how?
