Irish Govt set to own 200 UK pubs - a unique opportunity? 16 years 2 months ago #1

London Town, owner of 350 pubs in the UK has gone bust. Anglo Irish was their biggest financier and as part of the settlement is to get around 200 pubs.

Could this be a unique opportunity to channel quality Irish produce (mainly beer, but also food) into the UK market, and onto the counters and shelves of UK pubs?

Should the Tanaiste be lobbied to instruct Anglo not to sell off the pubs?

I believe there is a golden opportunity here.

Thoughts?

It would be great to see but I think the only vested interest the Irish Goovernment will have in those pubs is the re-sale value, they're a money hungry bunch who would gladly trample a granny to pick up a couple of cents that was dropped on the floor.

the Tanaiste - Couldn't organise a p**s up in a brewery never mind in London <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->
