That's trub, its waste product, mainly fats and inactive yeast.

Apparently if you mix it with warm water (not sure how much, I'd have a guess at 5 litres) and sugar its great for spraying on plants, vegetables, herbs and fruits in particular as it helps prevent airborne disease taking hold.

So the standard Muntons IPA came out really nice. The cascade dry hopped version isn't bad either. It's different, a little wierd perhaps. It's not vile or anything, but I think that the cascade was a little too strong and doesn't compliment the kit ingredients very well.

I've learned a lot doing it, and have recently bottled a new extract brew. Which will be ready in about 2-3 weeks.

It's bloody great that I'm finally able to enjoy the fruits of my labour, and it's good stuff. Thanks for the help folks.

If I am not mistaken (and I could be) the founder of our beloved site is also from your area so if you ever need some guidance in person you might be able to bribe some help from him for a little beer.

Awesome. It just so happens that I'm looking for a pipe bender to make my wort chiller. I've an internal pipe bender but need an external one. A loan of a pipe bender (or a chiller itself) in exchange for a loan of one of my beers would be most welcome.

I really need to get the new batch going before I leave for snowboarding on Saturday morning. If I don't then it's possible that there will be a small window in a few weeks time where I may be without ANY homebrew at all. <!-- s:( --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" title="Sad" /><!-- s:( -->

You'd pick up a pipe bender from a plumbers merchants for around a fiver which might be easier than meeting up with someone twice

True. My road is still iced up so i haven't been able to take the bike out to get to a plumber. Been over to two builders providers so far this morning on the pushbike and they only have the internal bender. The cycle home carrying a 18ft length of pipe on the icy roads was interesting.

I'll stop whining now.
