There should be a few of us in the Well the week before at the beer fest, if you're around for that too. And welcome.

Hi all

My name is Bob. I'm recently arrived in Dublin from South Africa where I have been brewing all-grain beers for a number of years. Here's the link to my old club: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.worthogbrewers.co.za">www.worthogbrewers.co.za.

I've got a lot to learn about local suppliers of equipment and ingredients (as well as the pH and hardness of the local water) as I start the process of reconstructing some semblance of a brewery. Its great to see a thriving brewing community here. Three quick questions of immediate interest to me:

1. Do you guys do a physical meet-up at all in Dublin? I'd be happy to participate.
2. Any idea where I might get my CO2 fire extinguisher filled?
3. I'm looking for a small conical fermenter (30L-ish). I see you can get them in UK. Does anyone know of a local supplier.

Cheers and looking forward to the Irish craft brewing experience,
Bob

Hi Bob !!

I've had hassles alright finding small fermenters in Ireland , There is a guy in limerick that priced making one for me last week , a 50l one would cost eur 750. I don't think I can stretch to that I can dig out their number for you if you're interested. I've asked UCC ( local Uni) where they got their ones, they have three 50l fermenters , but I haven't gotten an answer yet .

I'm thinking I'm gonna use this
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="gallery.me.com/seanwallace/100013/21_05-...g?ver=12382789580001">gallery.me.com/seanwallace/10001 ... 2789580001

because I really have despaired of finding an affordable conical.

Best net price I found was on <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.brouwland.com/">www.brouwland.com/ it's 564 plus shipping for a 50l cylindroconical tank . nice looking tank though

Hi Wallace

750 sounds definitely out of my league.

I've been looking at this one for £185 with some interest:
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.the-home-brew-shop.co.uk/acatalog/De..._and_Fermenters.html">www.the-home-brew-shop.co.uk/aca ... nters.html (the 6.5G one).

Cheers
Bob

PS. probably should move this discussion to another thread

Does it have to be a conical or is it more important that it's stainless steel?

If it's stainless you want, Hop and Grape[/url:23rg9dw4] do stainless drums fitted with a tap and 8 inch screw cap drilled to take standard bung & airlock. They come in a variety of sizes. The 30 Litre version cost £85.
