to be honest I find the music upstairs in B&C on a Friday and Saturday night to be very loud[/quote:3kqj3b3s]

Friday and Saturday night there going for a certain crowd. So i think its fair enough to have a DJ playing loud. We can always slink off somewhere else, even downstairs is not that far to go. Live music by its nature is loud and probably should be so I don't mind a band wailing away either. My problem is with a normal weekday pub just having really loud music so you'll shut up and drink more.

One problem is that almost all modern music has high volume but low dynamic range. The loudness war[/url:3kqj3b3s] uses compression to make all the song sound really loud. The chorus the same volume as the verse etc.

God this is a good ranting thread. Anyone have any other pub bugbears?

The youtube link at the end explains it well.

We've done the whole music in the B&C at the weekend before, haven't we?

I'm not racist but* does anyone else get annoyed when you try see what a bar has in its fridges and the barman acts like you're mad (This does not happen in b&c or porterhouse as there used to gawkers).

*sorry wanted to be the first person to use this phrase who did not then go on say something racist.

It's not their fault. It's 'cos they've no facilities.
