i have a press here which is german i think i bought it a couple of months ago on ebay . i think it is a 15 litre capacity i suppose that means ill have to fill it several times with trhe apples to get them all crushed. but as for mushing them first i think a piece of timber and some elbow grease ?

A friend of mine and I jerry-rigged a blitzer out of a little bit of threadbar, a drill and a steel tie (for building cavity walls) and a big bucket

We went through about 50kgs of apples in 25minutes

Sorry mate, it's long since been consigned to the dump as I moved house a few times since.

Basically a steel tie is a piece of flat steel of approx dimensions 200mm x 25mm x 1.5mm, so it's a bit like a blade.

We drilled a hole in the centre and got a piece of threadbar and bolted the tie to one end. (we used a few nuts to "locknut" it)

With the bucket, we drilled a hole in the centre of the lid and also in a piece of scrap timber.

Then we assembled the chopper as follows:
1. steel tie
2. bucket lid
3. scrap timber
4. drill

Then, you fill the bucket with apples, put the whole show on it and then run the drill while plunging it in and out through the apples.
