Thats odd, i have a load of pint glasses. Most of them are Guinness from Carrolls. I also have an Amstel one i got free with some cans I also have a Lord of the rings pint glass.

I have also got two Guinness brewhouse series glasses i had swiped for me by my wife's lovely cousins. They put them in their handbags (only use for them).

Now i have never been able to fill an Irish pint glass to the top with 500ml bottles or cans. There is always plenty of room left.

On the other hand, i got a 500ml Guinness glass free with a Guinness promotion they send out to me all the time. Its designed for their draught can of Guinness. I find that one holds exactly 500ml but with the head on the Guinness it can start to overflow.

The glasses that found their way home from the pub will have an "Pint" excise mark on them, so will hold exactly 568ml.

Indeed they do have the mark.

i got those glasses off the guinness machine a while back. how stupid is it giving a glass and suggesting having a draught can and when one pours it the liquid is suddenly pooling on your pants while your mates are crapping themselves laughing at you. really though how thick can they be? then again one should keep an eye on it when pouring and avoid pouring over lap whilst sitting .

Are you getting a Pint? 17 years 3 months ago #17

This was a long running campaign by CAMRA back in the 80s and 90s to make this happen in UK. Is it time Ireland followed suit and stopped robbing drinkers especially where Guinness is concerned?[/quote:1h66vfhj]

This is partially true, you have two types of glass in the UK, a normal pint glass which is used with a metred pump which serves a pint at the push of a button that has no head and fills right to the top of the pint glass, and then you have a glass like you are talking about which has the space for the head.
