Either of the Redbreasts(12yr or 15yr)simply for quality and value.
Gin wise, it would have to be either Hendricks or Crimson. Both copper pot distilled, fresh, clean, but with omly a smidgin of tonic.

Spicy dark rum. I'm off to the Caribbean in june so can't wait to try some nice rum there.
I'll drink gin if I have too and am partial to whiskey sometimes but I don't usually drink spirits. And don't even ask about my vodka night of shame

Really?? Cos many people have said different. My mam, who is a gin drinker by nature, says it's a completely different drink. My father, who tasted it on Monday, expressed shock at how it tastes nothing like gin, I can drink it, and like it, and I hate gin. My cousin has also said it's significantly different from normal gin.
It still has juniper in it, so it'll still have that distinctive taste, but I think it's different enough.
And it should never be drunk with lemon or anything, as on expert opinion (my mother's ) it tastes of nothing special, just a slightly different but otherwise unremarkable gin.
gotta admit im a bit partial to a bourbon neat myself, but once i get started i don't stop. i now reserve this pleasure until later in the night at special occasions.
I tasted Michael Collins single malt at a food fair before Christmas and it was lovely and peaty. It's made by the Cooley distillery in Louth which is the only independant distillery left in the country.
