Spirits: If you had to pick a poison, which'd it be? 18 years 1 month ago #1

I nearly always start a night out with a nice, easy, steadying beer, then a shot of chartreuse. It wakes you up and sets you down the right road.

I'm also partial to a brandy mixer, philistine that I am.

12 year old Jameson probably cos its not too expensive.

I do love a Wild Turkey after supping a few pints of Guinness in the Cobblestone though

Any good whiskey, be it Irish, Scotch or Bourbon.

Working on a bottle of Suntory a japanese 'scotch' at the moment

Anything *but* whiskey for me. Was fine until my 18th bday, when far too much of it was bought for me as presents in the college bar. Can't smell the stuff since without my stomach turning!

Can't really drink spirits neat, only mixed, which is probably sufficient reason for burning at the stake in some people's eyes

But if I am partaking then a good dark rum (or Morgan's Spiced) or Hendrick's Gin (which is nothing like any other gin you've ever tasted, believe me )

I've been known to imbibe Chartreuse or homemade Verveine in France though

I was hugely disappointed by how much Hendrick's Gin tastes like gin. With cucumber in, it tastes like gin with cucumber in.

To the OP, I'll drink just about anything, though wouldn't get through a whole lot of chartreuse.

For preference, Green Spot whiskey (neat), Marí Mayans absinthe (with water) or Bombay Sapphire gin (with Schweppes tonic).

And whatever you're having yourself.
