My preference would be either a decnet malt or regular blended whiskey but as a rule I try not to mix. I like some spirits, beers of course and wine but not all at the one sitting!!! I ussed ot have a bad habit of finishing a night out after x amoutnof pints with a whiskey but htat wa a killer altogether next morning!!! So now I feel if I am to have a short it is at the start of the evening and not later I have it. Finally learning from many years of mistakes!!!

It was going to be bought out by one the big distillers, can't remember off the top of my head which one, but it was stopped due to it being anti-competitive.

Stopping something anti-competitive in the drinks trade you say, how unusual...

Anyway back OT, G&T for me. The two constituent parts individually are undrinkable, but combined are very pleasant indeed.

On occasion I have been known to enjoy a vodka and tonic, purely because it was Arthur Daly's tipple of choice (V.A.T.).
Similarly, I went through a brief White Russian phase after watching The Big Lebowski. Have I mentioned that tv runs my life?

- Yeah, I had the same with vodka when I was a young 'un; even a whiff of the stuff sends me into cold sweats.

Christ, I couldn't touch whiskey now. It's bleedin' horrible, lads, even the 'nicer' stuff. Used to drink JD and coke back in my heathen days, but that stuff turns you mad. And I know it's not a REAL whiskey anyway, it's a boubon, but real whiskeys taste almost as bad, I reckon. Nah, drinkability is most important for me. It's rare now that I'd have more than a shot or a mixer, if that. Gettin' old.

Ah, Saturday night, Rebel Red. Will try the Purgatory too.

Have a good weekend <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->.

Gotta go with silenus on the Redbreast but if none is available then Bushmills single malt 10 year old (can't stand the 16 yo). Failing that Brandy starting with the Remy XO and working backwards to the awful American stuff they sell in SuperValu if there is no good beer to be had.

My Scottish background seems to catch up with me when it comes to spirits. Nothing but a good malt will do for me.
I have been known to have a chaser with a pint of heavy.
Very Scottish, pleasurable and dangerous <!-- s:evil: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_evil.gif" alt=":evil:" title="Evil or Very Mad" /><!-- s:evil: -->
