Was just wondering why we don't have more of a nano-brewery culture in Ireland like they do in Britain. Take Carbon Smith Brewing for example. <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="carbonsmith.co.uk/2016/03/07/how-to-buil...1-the-brewing-space/">carbonsmith.co.uk/2016/03/07/ho ... ing-space/ The guy set up in his own bedroom at first before he expanded into an 8'x 16' shed brewing a couple of hundred litres at a time. Leaving aside the lack of profit to be made from such a venture, is it actually possible to get it past health and safety in Ireland or is it just that nobody has even bothered doing it here yet. Brew By Numbers are another example
Cheers for any input or thoughts on this. It just seems to me a lot of innovative breweries start this way with the smaller scale making it easier to experiment.

I think the block is with the Revenue.

Any ideas on what particular issues revenue have?

Bigger problems and costs associated with ensuring you have an environment suitable for the production of selling something to the public.

Is there a set of guidelines anywhere?

I don't think there are, and a lot of it seems to come down to what the various inspectors think on the day they look at your operation.
