According to the VFI website, 4500 pubs are members, which is around 75% of pubs outside Dublin.

And if the LVA or VFI told their members to not sell Heineken products, how many would follow ? All these bodies can do is lobby.

Remember McDowell's reforms that were torpedoed? I think if they're quite influential when they want to be.

Lucky Spoons are here with there version of a family pub, also it did not help at a few T,D's that are listed as "Businessmen" are probably publicans <!-- s;) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt="" title="Wink" /><!-- s;) -->

A resolution, of sorts, seems to have been found, as is being reported today. Beamish and Fosters will be on sale in their Irish bars, but not Heineken or Murphy's, presumably due to brand positioning, the latter being "premium". I think it's business as usual again in the UK.

Also a couple of vintners (e.g. Charlie Chalke) confirmed over the last few weeks they "had made representations" to Heineken about Wetherspoons.
