The new menu is at the printer's already. Bath Ales Dark Side and Marstons Revisionist are the new stouts. Innis & Gunn, Bitburger and Adnams Dry-Hopped are the new lagers.

I noticed they tweeted them to all and sundry this evening. BADS doesn't fill me with inspiration. MR doesn't either. Combined neither of them will inspire an Irish market as they're not known stout names.

Lager, hmm, again I feel they'd be better served by something familiar (even Carlsberg, Bud, Coors).

Have the vintners successfully managed to stick a spanner in the Wetherspoons works? Can they recover from this most deathly of blows? Is the writing on the wall for Wetherspoons in Ireland? Will Fianna Fail get re-elected to power in the next election?

Tune in next week....

The I&G Lager is over sweet sickly garbage.
Strange choice for the stouts. Why couldn't they get some Irish ones in? O'Hara's / Bru ?

Too expensive, I would say.

Don't bring a knife to a gun fight come to mind, they tried to out maneuver spoons and got powned by some serious outflanking.

I suspect the matter now is beyond Heineken Irelands control and thus the vintners

If the vintners are pulling strings it's round 1 to them: they've prevented Wetherspoons selling cheap Heineken in Ireland. For Heineken it's damage limitation: lose the support of 7000 pubs in Ireland or 960 in the UK.
